The opening ceremony of “EFIS 2025 - 9th Future Engineers International Student Symposium” hosted by Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) was held with the presence of Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer.

“EFIS 2024 - 9th Future Engineers International Student Symposium”, organized by BEUN Faculty of Engineering for the ninth time this year, started with the opening ceremony held at Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Arslan Conference Hall.

Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Bekir Hakan Bakkal and Prof. Dr. Servet Karasu, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Zehra Safi Öz, members of the senate, academicians and students attended the opening ceremony held at Farabi Campus Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Arslan Conference Hall.

The ceremony started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem in memory of the martyrs and continued with opening speeches. BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, who took the floor to make the opening speech of the symposium, emphasized that Zonguldak is the city of labor and science, and stated that the university sheds light on the future with its deep-rooted history and visionary approach in the field of engineering.

Rector Prof. Dr. Özölçer also described the students participating in the symposium as “future science leaders” and underlined that engineering is not only a technical field, but also a vision that serves society. Emphasizing that he believes that the young people who will build the future will put forward their original ideas in the symposium, Prof. Dr. Özölçer concluded his speech by thanking the organizing committee, participating students, academicians and all stakeholders who supported the symposium.

Taking the floor to deliver the opening speech of the symposium, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Hamit Aydın expressed their great honor to host such a meaningful event and drew attention to the importance of such international organizations that will contribute to the scientific and cultural development of students. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Aydın expressed his gratitude to Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Faculty of Engineering and BEUN Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer, who has always supported the studies in the field of engineering, and thanked the organizing committee, all academic and administrative staff and students who contributed to the organization of the symposium.

After the speeches, the opening ceremony ended with Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Hakkı Özölçer presenting the certificates of appreciation to the stakeholders and the organizing committee who contributed to the symposium and taking a collective souvenir photo.

Eng. Prof. Dr. Aslıhan Bektan Şahinbay from Turkish Aerospace Industries and Dr. Lecturer Barış Burak Kanbur from the University of Southern Denmark, who will participate in the symposium online. Prof. Dr. Barış Burak Kanbur from the University of Southern Denmark, Dr. Volkan Kumtepeli from Oxford University, Prof. Dr. Dante Augusto Couto Barone from the Federal University of Rio Grande Do Sul, and Dr. Deniz Talan from West Virginia University. Prof. Dr. Deniz Talan from West Virginia University will continue with various sessions.
