Zonguldak Karaelmas University was established with the law numbered 3837, which came into force on July 11, 1992. With this establishment, our Faculty became one of the 7 Faculties of Zonguldak Karaelmas University and its facilities formed the core and infrastructure of the newly established University.
From 1975, when it was opened as Zonguldak DMMA, until 1992, when it was transformed into Zonguldak Karaelmas University Faculty of Engineering, only Mechanical and Mining Engineering Departments were provided education in our faculty. In the 1994-1995 academic year, the Department of Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering, in the 1997-1998 academic year, the Department of Civil Engineering, in the 2001-2002 academic year, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, in the 2001-2002 academic year, the Department of Mechanical Engineering evening classes were opened and education at the undergraduate level was started. In the 2006-2007 academic year, the Department of Environmental Engineering started accepting undergraduate students. Undergraduate students were accepted to the Department of Geological Engineering and Biomedical Engineering in the 2011-2012 academic year, to the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in the 2013-2014 academic year, to the Department of Food Engineering in the 2014-15 academic year, and to the Department of Computer Engineering in the 2016-17 academic year. In the 2017-18 academic year, the Departments of Computer, Biomedical and Geomatics Engineering opened a second term program and began accepting students.
In the organizational chart of our faculty, in addition to those mentioned above, there is also the Department of Industrial Engineering and the Department of Aeronautics and Space Engineering, but they have not yet become active.
